Presiding Bishop among the “$10 in 2010” signatories

The Rev. Dr. Sharon E. Watkins, General Minister and President of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), signed the letter in support of the ‘$10 in 2010’ campaign saying: “National wage policies are moral documents that express the values of our country. A minimum wage closer to a living wage better reflects our values.” The Most Rev. Katharine Jefferts Schori and 400 other faith leaders from all 50 states also signed the letter.

On inauguration morning Obama will worship at St. John’s

President Franklin D. Roosevelt started the tradition of attending a worship service before inauguration at St. John’s Episcopal. Since then, four other presidents have worshiped there on Inauguration Day: Harry S. Truman, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush.

Who Will Provide the Care?

The Kansas City Star reports : “While the supply of physicians roughly meets demand now, by 2025 the nation could be short from 124,000 to 159,000 physicians, according to different scenarios.” The expected shortage of nurses is even more marked, and arguably more critical.
