Thurgood Marshall unlikely to be confirmed

Kearon “delighted” as Mexico adopts Anglican Covenant

Mexico has become the first Communion Province to adopt the Anglican Communion Covenant following its VI General Synod in Mexico City on 11 and 12 June. Secretary General Kenneth Kearon said he was delighted at the decision and labelled The Anglican Church of Mexico’s decision as a “significant step” in the life of the Communion.

Justice Ginsburg explained: “Our decisions have declined to distinguish between status and conduct in this context.” This confirms that a majority of the Court now adheres to Justice O’Connor’s view in Lawrence, that “the conduct targeted by [the Texas anti-sodomy] law is conduct that is closely correlated with being homosexual” and “[u]nder such circumstances, [the] law is targeted at more than conduct” and “is instead directed toward gay persons as a class.
