In response to the present crisis, Episcopal Relief and Development is working through Anglican and ecumenical partners in the Horn of Africa to support people affected by the drought. But we cannot do it alone. World governments must provide emergency and ongoing assistance in order to alleviate the devastating drought and famine. – EPPN

When Boston Herald reporter Ian Rapoport went to the funeral of Myra Kraft on Friday, July 22nd, his tweets from Temple Emmanuel in Newton, Massachusetts, set off a controversy. Kraft was the wife of New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft. His actions led others to ask if it was appropriate for the reporter to tweet from the Temple.

The board believed the payouts in recent years were too high to allow it to meet its primary aim of maintaining the ”real value” of the endowment fund’s property. ”Regardless of market conditions, if you have got an endowment of $110 million, it is just not sustainable to be distributing amounts of $10 million a year before costs – you are going to go backwards very quickly,” Mr Payne said.

I’ve been having a wonderful exercise of my life and vocation this summer. I’ve gone swimming, sat on the edges of piers and drank wine, kayaked up an idyllic marsh-land creek to see a heron rookery, gone fishing, sat at dining room tables and on porches, headed over to the local restaurant to celebrate a birthday, and went to brunch at the local marina.
