Most of today’s news programs are all about the “sequester” – the automatic cuts in the US budget. NPR discussed it this morning:
The former archbishop of St Andrews and Edinburgh, and until recently the most senior Catholic in Britain, apologized and asked for forgiveness from those he had “offended” and from the entire church. O’Brien has effectively admitted he had been breaching the church’s strict rules on celibacy and its bar on homosexuality since he became a priest – and during his 10 years as a cardinal.
After the election, all the 25 bishops present expressed their support for Bishop Chimeledya’s election by signing a legal document to endorse the results. The Provincial Secretary said: “Bishop Chimeledya is committed to biblical faithfulness, to the Anglican Communion and looks forward to his first Primates’ meeting.”
