The Church Times online has posted a story regarding Dr Stephen Bullivant’s report, Contemporary Catholicism in England and Wales. The research showed very similar results for both Roman Catholics and Anglicans in England & Wales, that the membership of both denominations is almost entirely made of folks born & reared in the church.
The Episcopal News Service reports that last week the bishops of the dioceses in Province IX of the Episcopal Church approved the creation of a development group. The purpose of the group is for each diocese in the province to achieve fiscal independence.
The UMC and the Northern and Southern Provinces of the Moravian Church in North America have been holding talks for a number of years. The United Methodist Church approved the full communion agreement completed in 2014 with the two Moravian provinces at its recent General Conference in Portland OR.
Perhaps we need to look for little bits of wisdom that are like shiny shells in the sand. They are easily overlooked and they require a modicum of effort to bend over and pick up, but there is a small slice of the world that can be held in the hand and observed. It can be a tiny piece that can be the lynch pin for solving the whole puzzle before us.
