Vatican likes health care reform bill, US bishops don’t

Mark Silk notes that the Vatican and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops are at odds about the merits of health care reform legislation in the United States.

The Vatican likes the new law, whereas the USCCB, increasingly the captive on the American theoconservatives, lobbied against it. As Silk and Catholic blogger David Gibson have noted, the US bishops also rebuked Catholic supporters of the bill for “creating divisions in the church.” Wonder if they will be sending the same message to Rome?
