Desmond Tutu continues to inspire the faithful and inspire those to have faith. Thank God his “retirement from public life” was exaggerated!
Tutu inspires flock in San Francisco

Archbishop Desmond Tutu of South Africa has a message of hope and transformation for Americans in his current visit to California.
“We are all agents of transfiguration,” he told a congregation of 1,000 at Episcopal Grace Cathedral in San Francisco Sunday. “Go forth and transform your personal relationships, your community, your world, so it becomes hospitable to joy, to justice, to freedom, to peace.”
Tutu, 79, the retired Anglican archbishop of Cape Town, South Africa, was invited to San Francisco by Grace’s dean, the Rev. Jane Shaw, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.
Tutu, who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1984 for his fight against racism in South Africa, said, “All those who strut across the stage of the world as if they were invincible, they, too, without fail, will kiss the dust and become the flotsam and jetsam of history.
“A Berlin Wall tumbles down. Apartheid in South Africa gives way to democracy. The horrid, oppressive [Hosni] Mubarak steps down [in Egypt]. No situation could ever be described as hopeless.”
