Cemeteries refuse to bury Tamerlan Tsarnaev

UPDATE:

From the New Hampshire Register

A Yale Divinity School graduate says he is willing to donate one of his burial plots at a Mt. Carmel cemetery to the family of Boston Marathon bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev.

“The only condition is that I do it in memory of my mother who taught Sunday School at the Mt. Carmel Congregational Church for forty years and taught me to love thine enemy,” Paul Douglas Keane wrote on his blog, The Anti-Yale. “I own the plot. No one can refuse me access.”

According to USAToday cemeteries around Boston are refusing to allow the body of Tamerlan Tsarnaev to be buried.

As Boston bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s body lies in a Worcester, Mass., funeral home, the question looms: What to do with the corpse of a person suspected of a crime that horrified and terrorized a nation?

….

Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s body was rejected by several funeral homes until Graham Putnam & Mahoney agreed to handle the service. “We take an oath to do this,” funeral director Peter Stefan said. “Can I pick and choose? No. Can I separate the sins from the sinners? No.”

According to Muslim beliefs:

“Cremation is not an option for a Muslim. The body must be buried underground, said Council on American-Islamic Relations spokeswoman Yasmin Nouh.

Later reports say:

Stefan said Monday that Tsarnaev’s mother, Zubeidat Tsarnaeva, wants the body returned to Russia, where Tamerlan Tsarnaev was born and where his parents returned after the family lived in Massachusetts.”
