The Collect of the Day:
Our Papi, who art at Fenway, hallowed be your name. Your home runs come, your team hath won, on the road as it is at home.

We know God has more important things to worry about than the outcome of the World Series.
But it never hurts to cover your bases. And the Cardinals faithful, from Christians to Muslims to Jews, all have invoked the Almighty in their team’s quest for their 12th World Series victory.
Rabbi Jim Bennett, of congregation Shaare Emeth in Creve Coeur, said he attended an interfaith event Thursday night in which religious leaders all discussed the “ways our communities are rooting for and praying for a successful World Series.”
A congregant approached him a week ago during the playoffs before the Shabbat and asked if he would say a prayer for the Cardinals.
“I’m not sure if it’s theologically appropriate to pray for such things,” said Bennett, who immediately clarified that he is a huge Cardinals supporter personally. But, he modified a line from “Fiddler on a Hot Tin Roof” and offered this prayer: “May God Bless and keep the Red Sox far away from a World Series victory.”
“We pray for everyone to be healthy and well, but a little more blessings for us,” he said, with a laugh.
