Marriage equality is almost certainly coming to Hawaii. Zack Ford of Think Progress explains:
The Hawaii House has granted marriage equality its third and final passage with a vote of 30-19, as it had on Wednesday. The bill remains as it was amended in committee, which means it must return to Senate to passage before advancing to Gov. Neil Abercrombie (D), who is committed to signing it.
Though Wednesday’s passage foreshadowed easy passage again Friday, opponents of the bill again attempted to delay and obstruct the bill with numerous amendments, all of which failed.
According to the calculations of Bishop Tom Ely of Vermont, after Gov. Abercrombie signs the bill, 39.8 percent of Episcopalians will live in jurisdictions in which same-sex couples can marry.
@JimNaught @revsusanrussell Jim, Hawaii will add 6,916 and take us to 765,908 or 39.8%, based on 2012 statistics of US Episcopalians only.
