Church of England tries to stamp out bullying

The Church of England released guidelines for its schools today aimed at eliminating homophobic bullying. The Archbishop of Canterbury, in announcing the new guidelines, declared that he had fulfilled a promise he had made back in July of 2013 to target such bullying in church schools.

The guidelines lay out 10 points to focus on, and suggest policies for primary and secondary schools to implement in order to eliminate bullying. The guidelines can be read here

Upon release of the guidelines, Welby said:

Church schools begin from the belief that every child is loved by God. This guidance aims to help schools express God’s love by ensuring that they offer a safe and welcoming place for all God’s children. This is a task we are called to share and I know it is one our schools take immensely seriously. I commend this guidance as a contribution to that work.”
