Confederate flags placed at Martin Luther King’s church in Atlanta

USA Today reports that police are looking for the suspects, two white men who were caught on surveillance camera placing Confederate flags on the grounds at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, next to a #BlackLivesMatter poster last week.

From the article:

Rev. Raphael Warnock, senior pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church, said leaving the flags near the church was a message of hate, not heritage.

“It is a hateful act,” he said. “I view it as an effort to intimidate us in some way, and we will not be intimidated.”

In the wake of terrorist attacks at churches in the south, the FBI and other law enforcement officials are investigating possible motives and ties to terrorism.

Local NBC affiliate, 11Alive, followed up on the pastor and congregation after their first Sunday service following the act, with video and quotes from the service and congregants.
