Church House Publishing, the publishing arm of the Church of England, has issued a new book on the Psalms. The book is available in print, eBook and iOS app forms. An Android version is forthcoming. All of the versions are a bit on the pricey side. The print and eBook versions are the same price, £14.99, and are available directly from Church Publishing House. The iOS app version is available from the US iTunes App Store for $11.99.
Reflections on the Psalms is written for those wishing to follow the ancient custom of reading morning and evening Psalms. The resource includes reflections, or meditations, on the psalms by Church of England bishops, clergy, theologians and scholars, the same team that previously produced the Reflections on Daily Prayer. There is an introduction by Paula Gooder, a popular British writer and lecturer on biblical studies. There is also a guide to the Psalms in the life of the Church by the Bishop of Sheffield, the Rt Revd Steven Croft. Each of the updated reflections on all 150 psalms includes the corresponding psalm refrain and prayer from the Common Worship Psalter of the Church of England. Longer psalms follow the lectionary and are broken into corresponding parts.
