A top priority of Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and the state’s far-right Republicans, the restroom rhetoric will likely reemerge as a conservative litmus test during next year’s GOP primary elections, and the legislation itself could be resurrected during the next legislative session in 2019.
Just under a month ago the presiding bishop and president of the house of deputies appealed to the Texas legislature not to pass the bill.
