Look!

Look!

Let me keep my distance, always, from those

who think they have the answers.

Let me keep company always with those who say

“Look!” and laugh in astonishment,

And bow their heads.

-Mary Oliver: Mysteries, Yes

Look! A new day begins

The sun rising in shades of pink and orange

The morning light streaming through windows

Falling across the walls

Dancing with shadows.

Look! At the birds soaring

Their songs greeting the morning

Look! Glistening snow and icicle-laden branches

Children bundled in snow suites greeting the winter wonderland.

Look! In the eyes of your family

Listen to their stories

Feel their hands in yours

And open your arms for an embrace.

Look! A community gathering for worship

To break bread and drink wine

To sing and pray

The hands of the community extending in peace.

Look! Into the eyes of family and friends,

strangers and neighbors

See the eyes of God

Gazing at this creation

Brimming with hope and love.
