A Prayer for the Table

Wherever we gather

Wherever we meet

Wherever we come from

Wherever we are going

Come to the table.

No matter what is served

No matter how much is left

No matter the taste or the smell or the quality

No matter the season or the time

Come to the table.

Whether we’re feeling alone

Or hurt

Or broken

Or angry

Or left out

Come to the table.

If we’re hungry for love

For hope

For connection

For healing

For grace

For peace

Come to the table.

When we’re grieving

And missing our loved ones

When we can’t imagine an empty seat at the table

When we can’t stop the tears

Come to the table.

When our hearts are restless

When we’re yearning for peace

When we’re unsure of the next step

When we’re eager for a change

Come to the table.

The table is set.

The table is ready.

God’s abundance is waiting for us.

God’s love unrelenting for us.

God’s grace meeting us.

Come to the table.

Sit down.

Rest.

And remember that you are loved.
