We firmly and resolutely reject their statement, we reject their understanding of scripture, we reject their limiting view of God’s power, and we reject their fears.
Listening well helps me learn a stranger’s personal language. I learn their joys, what they are stumped by, what moves them. The stories are magnificent; they are jewels. Christ is right there in the middle of them.
The Church Times reports on the rediscovery of a commentary on the Gospels, written by Fortunatianus of Aquileia, a bishop in the fourth century –
