
Three more indigenous bishops consecrated in the province of South America
The Diocese of Northern Argentina (Diócesis de Argentina Norte) in the Anglican Church of South America (Iglesia Anglicana de Sudamérica) has gained three indigenous bishops.

The Standing Committee of the Diocese of Spokane in Eastern Washington State and the Idaho panhandle has announced that four candidates have been chosen for consideration at the 52nd Diocesan Convention. The candidates will be introduced to the diocese during the period of 26 -30 SEP. There may be additional candidates by that time who were submitted through a nomination by petition process in the diocese. The electing convention will be held 14 – 16 OCT at the Red Lion Hotel in Lewiston, ID. Should the bishop-elect receive the necessary consents, the ordination & consecration service is scheduled to be held 18 MAR 2017 in the Cathedral of St John the Evangelist in Spokane WA.

The delegates of the Scottish Episcopal Church mostly debated calmly and then took a vote with regard to the marriage canon of that church. Soon after the vote was taken in General Synod, the Scottish Anglican Network promulgated on its website an open letter to members of the SEC from the Global Anglican Future Conference’s entities in the United Kingdom, the Fellowship of Confessing Anglicans UK and the Anglican Mission in England.

The Mennonite Church USA (MC-USA) is the result of the union of two predecessor churches in 2002. There has been tension in the Church since the union in 2002 with regard to human sexuality. After about 15 years of union, the Mennonite Church USA is disintegrating as various churches pull out of the parent denomination.

Recently, the Rt Revd Susan Goff, Bishop Suffragan of the TEC Diocese of Virginia, was asked to serve as an honorary assistant bishop in the CoE Diocese of Liverpool. Subsequently, word has come out of Africa that because of this appointment, the bishop of the Diocese of Akure in Nigeria, which also has had a link relationship with the Dio Liverpool, had taken the decision to end that relationship. The Rt Revd Paul Bayes, bishop of Liverpool, has written a letter responding to the news and has published it on the diocesan website.

Yesterday, Friday 3 JUN, marked the 140th anniversary of the order by King Kabaka Mwanga of Buganda that those who had converted to Christianity were to be executed. The research showed very similar results for both Roman Catholics and Anglicans in England & Wales, that the membership of both denominations is almost entirely made of folks born & reared in the church.
