Lay leaders attempt takeover of church in Darien

Their rector, the Rev. Canon George I. Kovoor, notified the Darien police and Bishop Douglas. The responding officers spoke with Bishop Douglas who provided the relevant secular case law, canon (church) law, and Letter of Employment for Canon Kovoor, demonstrating the authority of the Bishop Diocesan in any disputes between the vestry (elected lay leaders) and the rector.

Response filed in U.S. Supreme Court by The Episcopal Church in South Carolina

The U.S. Supreme Court receives thousands of petitions for certioriai each year, and hears only a small fraction of them. The nine justices regularly hold conferences to determine which cases merit further review, and a decision on the South Carolina petition is expected to come before the end of June. If the court chooses not to grant certiorari, no further appeals are possible.

Two more victims in Howard White case

Former Episcopal priest Howard “Howdy” White has been extradited to North Carolina where he faces charges of child sex abuse involving two victims. Since those charges were made, two more victims have come forward.

CoE Archbishops were consulted on response to TEC Marriage Task Force

That letter from Mr. Nye, Provincial Secretary of the Church of England and General Secretary of the Archbishops’ Council. Who did he consult over its contents? A spokesperson for the Church of England contradicts Mr Nye’s letter. Nye’s letter said he consulted with staff. The spokesperson says he consulted with ABC, ABY and +Coventry.
