SGS for Healing, St. George’s School reach agreement though day includes new revelation

As a result of an agreement reached this afternoon between St. George’s School and the Alumni/Victim Group “SGS for Healing,” the Board of Trustees has announced that it will retain a third-party independent investigator to be agreed upon by the parties in order to oversee a comprehensive investigation of sexual abuse at St. George’s School. – St. George’s School

A choir director and clergy person who left St. George’s Preparatory School in Rhode Island went on to full careers in schools and parish ministry, some of which had been contacted by victims. In addition, allegations at St. George’s now extend as late as 2004. And there are allegations of a culture of student male on male rape.

An investigation by St. George’s School has found that a total of 23 students were sexually abused by three school employees in the 1970s and ’80s, according to a draft of a report provided to the Globe Wednesday evening. The perpetrators were fired, but the prep school did not report them at the time to child protection services, as mandated by law. – Boston Globe, December 23, 2015

Paris’ Episcopal cathedral hosts interfaith evening for peace and dialogue

The event was hosted by the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity (Anglican/Episcopal) in Paris, and led by a panel of Muslim theologians who are members of the World Union of Experts of Islam for Peace and Against Violence. Roman Catholic and Protestant leaders also attended the gathering.
