Everyday Prayers
“If I get too distracted I’ll miss it, the prayers of joyful noises. The prayers of feeling a beat and moving bodies without a care of how we look.”
“If I get too distracted I’ll miss it, the prayers of joyful noises. The prayers of feeling a beat and moving bodies without a care of how we look.”
“Yes, there are words that hurt, especially when heard in the context of church and worship, but similarly there are words that speak God’s grace. It takes practice and forgiveness over and over again to be a church and a people who can speak words of love to everyone who enters.”
“There is much to notice even on the darkest and coldest days. If only I open my eyes. If only I see the beauty in interruptions and the unplanned.”
“I feel myself relax as I listen to the voices. I know singing is good for you, I know community is good for you, but in that moment of voices rising as women, I feel more powerfully this goodness.”
“You see this moon. It is the same moon that will shine on you when you’re back home in the states. Look up at the moon and remember us.”
“We haven’t even begun worship yet, and I am weary.”
“I’m not a stranger to the idea of silence, just it’s practice.”
I like that thought too: that even though I can’t really see Jesus or touch him or talk to him, I know he’s still here. I feel his love in worship. I experience his goodness through loving my neighbors. I taste and touch his grace in bread and wine.
“As we reflect on the past year we see your love scattered through our days. We see your grace raining upon us. We see your reflection in us.”
Wherever we are and however we feel, Christ is born for us!
Whether we believe or doubt, Christ is born for us!
Whether we’re joyful or full of sorrow, Christ is born for us!
