Bishop Sloan elected bishop of Alabama on first ballot

The Rt. Rev. John McKee Sloan, the suffragan bishop of Alabama was elected the 11th diocesan bishop of that diocese on the first ballot in special convention today.

Bishop Sloan was elected with 68 votes in the clergy and 145 votes in the lay order. 60 clergy votes and 136 lay votes were needed for election.
