Good news for days when we have a hard time keeping it all together.

This coming Sunday, “Shepherd Sunday,” we will be reminded that Jesus’s sheep know him and his voice. But this recognition works both ways. Jesus knows his sheep—and the sheep know Jesus.
Some primal fears may be good for the health of our souls.

The next time you find yourself trapped in the same old sin, whatever it is, ask yourself, “What did I really hope to gain?” There’s a very good possibility that it’s something you already have.

But we still look for Jesus to come back and resolve all the problems of earth. We are often resigned to the evils of the world; after all, one person or even a thousand people can’t fix them all.
Our epistle invites us to approach our day with wide-eyed optimism, even if we know the world better than that.

Fishing church was an occasional respite for me from the demanding, heart rending, sometimes satisfying work of the love of other human beings.
