We all, regardless of national origin, tend to fear the unknown and different. We tend to look for the two percent of our DNA that denotes ethnic differences instead of seeing the ninety-eight percent we have in common.

And of course, the problem with praying for humility is that the “class” God teaches involves a lot of suffering and pain; though it gets the job done

This time last summer, I spent a lot of time in the chapels and glades of Iona, an island off the coast of the Inner Hebrides of Scotland. A shift seemed to occur there which is playing out here at Parajito Farm. The shift is that of finding God in the land, and “church” in a family room with a few new friends.

“Lavish” implies an abundance and generosity we often don’t give God credit for. To lavish someone with gifts means to give more than that person could ever deserve, out of real generosity and love.

Like the bee gathering pollen and nectar, the recruitment and training of the ministry minute speakers and the coaching of their 500-word scripts and their training in public speaking is summer work. Do it now, while there is no pressure from Fall schedules .
