Could you live with some of the suspect ecclesiological assertions in the covenant if signing on meant that the Communion Partner Bishops and Rectors, the Duncanites, the Minnsians, the Jensenites, et al. could no longer claim that the Episcopal Church’s membership in the Anglican Communion was in jeopardy?
Inclusive Church is deeply disturbed by the recent announcement of the Revision Committee. It has moved away from the expressed will of General Synod in July 2008 – that there should be legislation to consecrate women as bishops on the same terms as men with an additional code of practice containing arrangements for those who do not accept the authority of bishops who are women.
We look to the Copenhagen conference with hope but also with realism . . . there must be a desire on the part of every nation to do what they know they must, not because they are legally bound, but because they share a vision for a more just and sustainable future.

Whatever we call it, this renamed holiday would be an excellent time for us all to learn not only about the rich heritage of America’s indigenous peoples, but also about the lives and accomplishments of contemporary Native Americans.
