Last week we had a story about a joint effort of the College for Bishops, The Episcopal Church Development Office and The Episcopal Church Foundation called Project Resource that seeks to change the culture of acquiring resources for ministry. In an election requiring 4 ballots José McLoughlin finally received the votes necessary to win the election. He needed 69 clergy votes and 65 lay votes to be elected. In the 4th ballot he received 69 clergy votes and 86 lay votes.

Anglican women in the Philippines improve their livelihoods with a simple vegetable

The taro root is a edible plant that grows easily in the Philippines in the regions with swampy, wet soil. It has become an income generator for a small group of women at St John’s Mission in Nayon, Philippines. Starting with a micro-loan from Ecare, a partner to the Australian Board of Missions, the women developed a tasty baked chip sliced from the taro root.

Anglican research scholars sought for opportunities in Japan

In 1977 the Anglican-Episcopal Church of Japan established the Bishop Williams Memorial Fund. The Memorial Fund was established to support visiting lecturers and research scholars. The Fund is presently accepting applications for an 18 month opportunity to study Japanese and do Anglican research in Japan.

Three days after the early Sunday morning Orlando massacre, musicians, singers, actors, producers and technicians who are part of the Broadway community, gathered in Avatar Studios to do what artists do best in response to a crisis, they made a record to raise money. Broadway for Orlando has recorded What the World Needs Now Is Love. The song was written in 1965 by Burt Bacharach & Hal David. Time, space and talent was volunteered to create the recording and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the LGBT Center of Central Florida.
