And the winner is ––– 10 year old Lucas Salinger from the CoE Primary School in Hertfordshire in the Diocese of St Albans. Lucas’ design features a circular crest of children holding hands and is divided by a cross patterned after the cross in the primary school’s parish church, the Church of the Holy Trinity. The quarters of the crest have birthday candles, the number 90 and the crest is surmounted by Elizabeth II’s Latin insignia, E ii R (Elizabeth Regina II) and the royal crown. Lucas was competing against 1000+ designs submitted by other children.
The Queen will turn 90 on 21 APR. However, in the UK and other of Her Majesty’s realms her subjects elaborate an official birthday for the monarch. In the UK her official birthday is celebrated on a Saturday in June. This year it is being celebrated during the weekend including 11 JUN.
