Readers will recall that the Virginia Supreme Court agreed to hear the appeal of the Diocese of Virginia in its dispute with CANA. In line with the court’s usual time line, the Diocese, The Episcopal Church and Amici Curiae have now filed written Briefs on the Merits with the court. The next step is for CANA to provide its brief in reply.
Joining in supporting the diocese are its sister dioceses, the Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty, the African Methodist Episcopal Church, the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, the United Methodist Church, the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, the Presbyterian Church (USA), the Church of Brethren, and the Seventh-Day Adventists.
