A letter from Dean and President Dunkle. Received via email.
Dear everyone,
No doubt we all had a tough day yesterday. Much was said and done, all producing high emotion. So, anxiety, fear, anger, resentment, perplexity, and sadness (among many, many others) are just a few of the very valid responses.
As we go through this together, remember that all our hope on God is founded. It’s not just a hymn, but a guiding reminder of our fundamental truth. Prayer, either alone or together, is the most effective way to access God. Please remember to continue to pray for all those here and not here.A few new pieces of information:
Chapel: Again, to start with the most important part of what we do, I want to let you know that tonight, Suffragan Bishop of New York +Alan Shin will be our preacher at the 6:00pm Eucharist. I hope he can stay for dinner.
Also, thank you particularly to the sacristan and precentor guilds for continuing to lead and facilitate our common worship life.
Classes: About half our classes continue uninterrupted. The other half can be categorized in three ways: (1) those for which we have a plan, some of which is already underway; (2) those for which I am having constructive discussions with highly qualified faculty; and (3) those for which we are still searching for the right solution. I hope to have all classes either covered or with a definite time frame for coverage by the weekend. Remember, being in the heart of New York City affords us access to educational and formational resources second to none throughout the country. I will keep you informed as decisions are made.
Tomorrow, PR-1 will meet at 8:30am (instead of 11:00am) in Sherred 1B. The Presiding Bishop will be your guest for that class. Later, she will join us for chapel at 10:10am and be present on the Close until 11:30am for your own contact with her.
Community Time: Remember the Community Council is hosting a gathering in Sherred for students only at 1:30pm. You must be a currently registered student to attend. Thank you to the past and new Community Council leadership for setting this up.
