Just when you thought gay bashing in the Anglican Communion would take a holiday, in spite of the failure of the Archbishop of Canterbury to show by word and example that gays are deserving of the same rights as all human beings, it reappears. Destination? Ghana. Not surprisingly, Anglican bishops are involved.
Christian Leaders Warn Politicians Over Gays – Ghana mma
“We call on all Christians to vote against politicians who promote and support homosexuality,” the Christian and Pentecostal Councils of Ghana jointly issued the threats in Accra yesterday.
The debate about whether homosexuality and lesbianism should be legalized in Ghana is arousing public sentiments, particularly among the clergy, who are coming out strongly to condemn the act.

At a well-attended news conference at the Christian Council Headquarters in Accra on Monday, Reverend Dr. Fred Deegbe, General Secretary of the council who read the statement, said, “We Ghanaians and for that matter Africans cherish our rich and strong values on issues such as homosexuality and we must not allow anyone or group of people to impose what is acceptable in their culture on us in the name of human rights.”

Rt. Rev. Matthias Modedues-Badohu, Presiding Bishop of the Anglican Church and Bishop of Ho, said, “We speak against acts that go against the word of God. It is abnormal and not good. Our objective is to condemn it so that people will not get involved.”

Government Minister orders arrest of all homosexuals – Joy FM
The Western Region Minister Paul Evans Aidoo has ordered the immediate arrest of all homosexuals in the region.
He has tasked the Bureau of National Investigations and all security agencies to smoke out persons suspected to be engaging in same sex.
He also enlisted the services of landlords and tenants to provide reliable information which will lead to the arrest of homosexuals.
His directive follows months of campaigns against the practice of homosexuality in the country.
Only yesterday, the Christian Council of Ghana capped months of protestations against the practice of homosexuality with a strongly worded message against the practice and courting Ghanaians not to vote for any politician who believes in the rights of homosexuals.
