Last night’s #ChSocM talked about social media, prayer and #Baltimore community support

Last night’s #ChSocM chat (a weekly moderated event by @ChSocM, which focuses on social media, the church and faith, and founded by Meredith Gould) centered on Baltimore and the social media response to events there. A transcript of the conversation has been posted on Storify, linked through the #ChSocM blog.

The discussion, moderated this week by OurChurch.com CEO Paul Steinbrueck, discussed four questions, explained on the blog:

T1: Have you been engaging in social media related to the events in Baltimore? If so, how?

T2: To what extent do you think the issues in Baltimore are due to people not understanding one another or feeling unheard?

T3: How can churches or individual Christians use social media in a positive way as it relates to Baltimore?

T4: Do you think churches are stepping up and engaging in the #Baltimore conversation or trying to avoid it to avoid controversy?

I always end chats by talking about action…

T5: What’s one thing you are going to DO because of our conversation tonight?

The conversation touched on the importance of listening, finding out how to help, on following the “real story,” of being able to hear the story from many voices and multiple perspectives, not just through the mainstream media.

Share your thoughts on the above questions as the online conversation continues, with us and using the #ChSocM hashtag.
