The Province of Kenya reports the sad news of the death of the wife of Archbishop Wabukala
We regret to inform you of the demise of Mama Caren Nakhumicha Wabukala wife to Archbishop Dr. Eliud Wabukala the Primate of the Anglican Church of Kenya. This happened yesterday night after attending a colourful consecration and enthronement service of the second bishop of the Diocese of Nairobi. Mama Caren was jovial and had the pleasure of welcoming Mama Tabitha (Wife of the new bishop) within the service.
In the evening at about 8.00 p.m. Mama Caren collapsed in the house and was rushed to Nairobi Hospital where after examination was pronounced dead. This was happening as the Archbishop checked in at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on his way to London for a Global South meeting scheduled to begin today. However, we managed to communicate to him before he boarded and was able to view her body at Nairobi Hospital before movement to the Lee Funeral Home.
Tthe Archbishop has expressed desire to have a memorial service on Thursday 9 th September, 2010 at 2.00 p.m. at All Saints’ Cathedral, Nairobi. The body will be laid to rest on Saturday 11 th September, 2010 at Kibeu Village, Butonge Location in Bungoma District/Diocese.
Kenya Broadcasting Corporation reports here:
Relatives said she lost consciousness and efforts to revive her proved futile as her injuries proved to be fatal.
“Last evening, she participated in prayer sessions as she normally does and she was quite well and healthy. Later on as she was going down the stairs, she slipped and fell. We tried to do everything in our power to revive her but did not succeed,” a relative said.
Our prayers go out to the Archbishop and our sisters and brothers in Kenya at this time of loss.
