Meditations from Millenial Missionaries

On March 7th, Charles Blow wrote a piece called, “The Self(ie) Generation.” Blow’s analysis of the most recent data from the Pew Research Center focused primarily on the oft-studied yet not fully understood Millenial generation which, according to Blow, is drifting away from cultural, political, and religious institutions.

Contrasting some of the Pew data and Blow’s analysis are members of the Episcopal Young Adult Service Corps who are deployed in the service of God all over the world. This Lenten season, Young Adult Service Corps members have launched a series called, “Meditations from Millenial Missionaries.” Becky Gleason, of the Diocese of San Diego who is serving in Honduras, writes:

Jesus came to call sinners (you and me) to repentance. This Lenten season, I encourage you to reflect on your life. Where are you spiritually sick? Where are you in need of healing from sin? Ask Jesus for forgiveness, but also ask Jesus to free you from that sin. Then, get rid of the distractions and create the space for God to work in you. Changes probably won’t happen overnight, but you aren’t usually cured from an illness overnight either. Give yourself time to heal, and slowly you will find yourself growing stronger.

More Millenial Meditations and the rest of Becky’s meditation are available here.
