The Interprovincial Board of Communication (IBOC) Bookstore, of the Moravian Church in North America, is promoting a full-color Images of the Moravian Church calendar for 2017. If you have ever been curious about one of TEC’s more historically unique full-communion partners, this calendar has full-page color images of Moravian Church traditions, events and locations.
The IBOC is pleased to introduce Images of the Moravian Church, a unique 12-month wall calendar for 2017 with full-page photos depicting Moravian traditions, events and locations. The calendar pages include key Moravian festival days, like John Hus Festival (July 6), August 13th Festival and Festival of Christ the Chief Elder (Nov. 13), along with major U.S. and Canada holidays. The coil-bound calendar opens to 11” wide x 17” tall and is printed on 100 lb. matte-finish card stock that’s easy to write on.
The photos in this collection, made by IBOC Executive Director Mike Riess, share Moravian symbols like candles, stars and chalices; Moravian landmarks; beautiful sunrises; and more. Each month also includes a Watchword from the Moravian Daily Texts for 2017.
Additionally, you can also get the Moravian Daily Texts in an electronic edition for the Amazon Kindle, Apple iBooks and the Barnes & Nobel Nook. The Moravian Daily Texts is the modern edition of a daily devotional guide which dates back to 1731 Germany.
First published in 1731 in Saxony, The Daily Texts grew out of a spiritual renewal of the Moravian Church (Unitas Fratrum) that dates back to August 13, 1727. Today, more than 280 years after its first publication, the Daily Texts continues its promise of “a daily message from God that is new every morning.” Each day’s entry in this beloved daily devotional includes “watchwords” drawn from Old and New Testament verses. The North American edition of the Daily Texts feature inspirational hymns and prayers, with each month prepared by different writers from across the North American Moravian Church. The strength of the Daily Texts lies in presenting the Scripture unhindered by commentary or illustration. The texts are left to stand alone and to speak to each reader in his or her life. This also allows the Daily Texts to be adaptable to different patterns of devotion and study. In addition, at the top of each page are listed Scripture passages for ongoing study that are part of a plan to read through the Psalms in one year and the rest of the Bible in two.
You can purchase the electronic version for your Amazon Kindle or Apple iPad/iPhone at these links. B&N has not yet made the Nook version available on its website.
