VINELAND, NJ — When residents of an Eighth Street house wanted light, they plugged into the Trinity Episcopal Church. … The residents of a home on North Eighth Street were reportedly running an electrical cord from inside their house to an exterior outlet at the church.
The officer walked around to the west side of the church and saw the orange extension cord plugged into the church receptacle. The line ran across the grass, along a concrete driveway, over a fence and into a window of the residence on the 100 block of North Eighth Street, according to a police report. The church leader said she confronted the residents about the incident last week and requested that they stop….
Since May, the church has experienced a “noticeably abnormal increase” in its electric bill, according to police, noting the church leader estimated the bill jumped by about $300 a month to a total of $900.
The church official declined to press charges, but asked police to speak with the residents….This had been going on for several months, the residents said, explaining they’ve been having problems with the electric company….
