Thirteen students of All Souls Episcopal Church and Community Center music programs will perform a concert Friday at 6:30 p.m., in the church at 5500 St. Claude Ave., with the help of visiting artists from Trinity Wall Street Church in New York and the All Souls Summer Music Program staff. The concert is free and open to the public.
To prepare for Friday’s concert, students are spending the week studying vocal and instrumental music with the All Souls staff and the renowned choir of Trinity Wall Street, an Episcopal church in lower Manhattan that stood in the shadow of the World Trade Center’s twin towers.All Souls began a classical music program in January and offered an intensive six-week course this summer to children of the Lower 9th Ward. The program started with an initial grant of $9,000 from Trinity Wall Street and recently received a $5,000 grant from St. James Episcopal Church in Baton Rouge to buy instruments.
