As the first anniversary of the Jan. 12, 2010 Haitian earthquake approaches, Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori has called for prayers and expresses solidarity with the people of Haiti and the Episcopal Diocese of Haiti as they rebuild.

“We continue to work with and pray for our brothers and sisters in Haiti,” Jefferts Schori said in her Jan. 11 statement. “The Episcopal Church is urgently engaged in supporting the rebuilding of the cathedral complex, in addition to mission partnerships all over the nation. We hope for significant and measurable progress in the coming months in improving the lives of Haitians, helping to restore livelihoods, and stabilizing the institutions of communities and the nation.”
