Presiding Bishop visits Diocese of Maryland’s Convention

Presiding Bishop Michael Curry spoke at the Diocese of Maryland’s 233rd annual convention this past weekend in Baltimore. He spoke strongly against gun violence, an issue the diocese has a history of addressing. Presiding Bishop Curry lived in Baltimore for twelve years, until 2000. His speech on Friday, electrifying as always, urged the audience to follow the Jesus Movement. “Jesus, he said, inspired his first followers to ‘reorient their lives’ around such proclamations as ‘blessed are the poor in spirit’ and ‘blessed are those who are persecuted just because they love somebody.'” The Baltimore Sun has more here.
