Presiding Bishop: ‘We are all essential’

The Presiding Bishop visited the Diocese of Central PA over the weekend. Judging from the press coverage it was quite the event.

The main gathering had to be held in a Lutheran congregation in Camp Hill because of the numbers of people who were expected to attend. The 500 or so who did show up filled the nave.

The Presiding Bishop struck a common note of reconciliation in her remarks:

“‘We live in a society that says we sink or swim by our own efforts,’ Katharine Jefferts Schori, the presiding bishop of the Episcopal Church, said at the ‘Celebration of the Ministry of the Baptized’ highlighting her visit to the Episcopal Diocese of Central Pennsylvania.

‘But the mission of God needs the gifts and ministries of all of God’s people,’ she said.”
