The Anglican Diocese of Kumasi has ordained its first woman priest of the Church, the Rev Mrs Priscilla Lovia Owusu-Asiedu.

To the chalicists, he asked them to pray as they go to church to assist, so that there would be a breakthrough in their lives and in the lives of those they serve the wine to. Commenting on the attendance at the commissioning, Archbishop Akrofi observed that women outnumbered men, and also pointed out that women are in the majority among the graduands . He said this justifies the decision of the Diocese to ordain women into the priesthood. Sixty lay readers and Twenty Two chalice assistants were commissioned at the function.
