Queen opens General Synod

The Church of England will begin its General Synod today (Tuesday). #synod is the hashtag for Twitter for those who want to follow along. The Queen will conduct the opening session festivities. According to General Synod blog

[Today] starts with the Inauguration Service in Westminster Abbey at 10:40am, followed by the Queen’s speech (and briefly one each by the two Archbishops) before lunch. The afternoon kicks of with the Presidential Address from Archbishop Rowan, and then a debate on the Big Society. Outline agenda is available here; and all other papers and agenda here.

The Covenant will probably be discussed and voted on Wednesday. Here is a little video of the sort of discussion that has been conducted to date:
