Rockin’ the Latke

The a capella group the Maccabeats premiered their newest release, “Latke Recipe,” on Time.com. The group, which formed when the members were students at Yeshiva University, has four albums out already; their website describes the Maccabeats as not “your grandfather’s synagogue choir”:

…their ideology and identity play an important part in what they do. Strongly committed to the philosophy of Torah u-Madda, the integration of traditional and secular wisdom, the Maccabeats perform an eclectic array of Jewish, American, and Israeli songs.

The release was reported, including the video, on the Jewish Daily Forward (“Your favorite Jewish a cappella boys are back — and they’ve brought a frying pan.”). The song is a parody of the Walk the Moon’s “Shut Up and Dance,” and it includes a latke recipe. Watch it here:
