Rowan Williams: sad, relieved, and vague on leaving post

WalesOnline’s Clare Hutchinson reported on Rowan Williams, at a talk on the imagery in religion, where he briefly reflected on a participant’s question that:

…it was “a sadness” for him to leave his position “with unfinished business” over the question of women bishops.

He also expressed some relief:

“It is quite nice to have a bit more time to say my prayers and turn into a Christian again and to catch up with a bit of sleep.”

Williams declined to expand on his viewpoints concerning women as bishops, or what he should have done differently.
