Sandy Elledge, Appalachian Ministries: rise in glory

Via email:

Dear Friends,

It was with great sadness I just received the following message from The Rev. Gordon L. Brewer, Executive Coordinator of Episcopal Appalachian Ministries that Sandy Elledge, long time staff member of EAM and former Director, has died.

Please pray for Sandy and her family. She served tirelessly for many years as the editor of Mountain Echoes (the EAM newsletter) and later as Executive Coordinator. She will be greatly missed in the EAM family. May Sandy rest in peace and rise in glory. We lost a good one!

Peace,

The Rev. T. Scott Allen

Dear EAM Friends,

It is with great sadness that I let you know of the death of Sandy Elledge. Sandy died this afternoon (October 14, 2011) in Winchester, VA after a complications from a medical procedure she had been recuperating from. She was with her daughter and family members at the time of her death.

Sandy was the former Executive Coordinator for Episcopal Appalachian Ministries. Sandy was passionate about the needs and ministry to the people of Appalachia. Sandy was very instrumental in helping start the EAM work camps at Grace House on the Mountain in the Diocese of Southwestern Virginia. The work camps were very much her passion!

Service plans have not been announced at this point and we will send word out about any funeral plans as we receive those.

May her soul and all the souls of the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Let light perpetual shine upon her. Amen

God’s Peace,

Gordon

The Rev. L. Gordon Brewer, Jr.

Executive Coordinator
