There wasn’t a pact amongst the Gafcon Primates to keep the consecration in South Sudan a secret. None. The Primates were perfectly free to talk about the event at any time. Second, there has been the suggestion that perhaps there was incompetence; a kind of wishful thinking that the event would never be known. That’s not what happened either. – ACNA
The ping pong between principals over the interpretation of the Walking Together resolution passed at the recent Anglican Consultative Committee in Lusaka continues.
“We went to Canterbury out of a desire for unity. In our hearts we desire to see the tear in the fabric of the communion mended. The sanctions passed at that meeting were the mildest possible rebuke to only the worst of the offenders, but they were one step in the right direction. Regrettably, these sanctions have not been upheld.”
