On this second Sunday of Easter, we find that Jesus has escaped his tomb and his followers have entered into theirs.

Instead of focusing on dyeing Easter Eggs or doing the church flowers, I will be thinking about Jesus knowing true separation from God so that he could bring us all closer to God.

Divine concerns lead us out beyond the edge of what is usual into deeper relationship with God. Human concerns limit us to the narrow perspectives of our own egos.

We are called to be a Spirit-filled people, with each moment a revolution—a literal turning and reordering from the power of culture to the power of the Holy Spirit.

Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.’

Before Advent gets here take some time to identify the ways the world tries to lie to you and remember that those things are not true. You belong to God’s kingdom, and the truth is that you there are no accusations against you.

The gospel text for this morning has inspired me to keep my thoughts brief and get a bit more sleep. In today’s gospel, the disciples find Jesus infuriatingly asleep on their boat as they try to cope with the turmoil of wind and waves. While they were full of fear and worry, there was Jesus “in the stern, asleep on the cushion.”
