Joseph had to be a strong man, a good man, and one who put the well-being of others before himself. I am sure Jesus did not learn everything he had to learn from some supernatural force like angels or visions or whatever. I am sure a lot of what he had to learn especially in his very young life came from his parents, both Mary and Joseph.
I wonder what might be unleashed if we unraveled the stories that are based on lies and instead wove stories of truth, accepting each strand, every color and hue. What power might be unleashed in the world, our church, in our lives?
May we all be drawn there, too. Drawn toward the Love that turned and slept in his mother’s arms. Love that offers us everything and demands from us everything in return. Love that stands against principalities and powers
God will come. That much is sure. He will be here next week. What gifts will we bring? Another Psalm instructs us that, besides our adoration and hymnody, God would like to have our brokeness, the shattered pieces of our scandalous old lives.

Once upon a time there was a man and wife and who were expecting a baby. They had to make a trip to another town
