I like that thought too: that even though I can’t really see Jesus or touch him or talk to him, I know he’s still here. I feel his love in worship. I experience his goodness through loving my neighbors. I taste and touch his grace in bread and wine.
Learning about God is, for me, a continuous process of setting aside assumptions. To grow spiritually, I cannot rest in what I think I know but must instead reach for new insights and new direction. Love unfolds – pushing my understanding of its limits to ever greater horizons.
The fear that has gripped me has alleviated a little for I know that stretched out across this nation, and this world, there are more of us who hold the candles of hope than not.
