The Mennonite Church USA (MC-USA) is the result of the union of two predecessor churches in 2002. There has been tension in the Church since the union in 2002 with regard to human sexuality. After about 15 years of union, the Mennonite Church USA is disintegrating as various churches pull out of the parent denomination.
The Salt Lake Tribune reported yesterday that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church), headquartered in Salt Lake City UT, has once again entered the fray against marriage equality, this time in Mexico.
Yesterday we reported that the Irish Legal Times had announced that the Scottish Episcopal Church was on track to become the first UK church to allow same gender marriages. This isn’t true however, as the Unitarians, the Quakers and the Metropolitan Community Churches in the UK already allow marriage equality, although they are all smaller bodies than the Scottish Episcopal Church.
It has been reported that in the Church of Ireland every priest has been mailed a letter regarding same gender marriage in the Republic of Ireland. The content was developed by the Irish church’s House of Bishops and then sent as a pastoral letter from each priest’s bishop diocesan.
The Revd Canon Jeffrey Davies was Canon Precentor of Salisbury Cathedral for 25+ years. He had applied for a license to officiate from the Bishop of Winchester. His application has been denied.

The Public Religion Research Institute publishes a graphic of the week. This week they are tracking the percentage of residents of each state in favor of legal marriage for same gender couples.
The Governing Body of the Church in Wales sat for a vote on same gender marriage on Thursday, 1 SEP 2015. The Body voted by a majority in favor of same gender marriage. However, the majorities in each section of the Body were less than the required 2/3s majority needed to change canon law.
