The board of St. Andrew’s has recently hired a lawyer with experience defending schools against sex abuse charges. The board asks parents to report charges of sex abuse to the lawyer. One parent has criticized the board, saying the investigation harms the reputation of the school.
At least 67 private schools in New England have faced accusations since 1991 that staffers sexually abused or harassed more than 200 students, the Spotlight Team found through an examination of court cases, as well as interviews with alumni, relatives, school officials, and attorneys. – Boston Globe
The Rev. “Howdy” White was fired by St. George’s Episcopal School in 1974 after a student came forward saying he had been raped by White on several occasions. The firing was not revealed until December of 2015. On Sunday the Providence Journal reported on a foster child of White’s is alleging he was raped.
“The Pomfret School in Connecticut said it, too, is reviewing its policies and campus culture and has hired an investigator to receive reports of wrongdoing. Pomfret’s headmaster was formerly an administrator at St. George’s and has acknowledged not reporting some of the alleged abuse there to authorities.” – AP
It appears from the record that the plaintiff subsequently learned information tending to indicate that the Protestant Episcopal Church in the Diocese of West Virginia, may have known of White’s alleged proclivity for deviant sexual behavior. – Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia
Title IV proceedings are under way for the Rev. George E. Andrews II and the Rev. Howard White. And a new victim has come forward, this time in North Carolina where White served as rector of Grace Church in the Mountains.

Former Massachusetts attorney general Scott Harshbarger was named Monday to oversee a new investigation of the embattled St. George’s School, which has been mired in a sex abuse scandal dating to the 1970s.
As a result of an agreement reached this afternoon between St. George’s School and the Alumni/Victim Group “SGS for Healing,” the Board of Trustees has announced that it will retain a third-party independent investigator to be agreed upon by the parties in order to oversee a comprehensive investigation of sexual abuse at St. George’s School. – St. George’s School
